1. 📱 Purpose of This Agreement

This agreement is designed to ensure that I use Snapchat responsibly, safely, and respectfully. It helps protect my privacy, maintain trust with my parents, and encourage good digital habits.

We are doing this because my parents love me very much and want to keep me safe at all times.

Teen's Responsibilities:

1. Privacy and Security:

  • •I will not share personal information (such as my full name, address, phone number, school, or passwords) with anyone online without my parents' permission.
  • •I will use strong, unique passwords for all my accounts and will not share them with anyone except my parents.

2. Respectful Communication:

  • •I will treat others with respect online and will not engage in cyberbullying, harassment, or spreading rumors.
  • •I will report any instances of bullying, harassment, or inappropriate content to my parents immediately.

3. Time Management:

  • •I will adhere to the agreed-upon screen time limits and will prioritize homework, family time, and other responsibilities over recreational technology use.
  • •I will take regular breaks from screens to protect my physical and mental health.

4. Appropriate Content:

  • •I will only visit websites and use apps that are appropriate for my age and have been approved by my parents.
  • •I will not download or install any software or apps without my parents' permission.

5. Device Use:

  • •I will take care of all devices and use them responsibly, avoiding damage and keeping them clean.
  • •I will not use devices during family meals, important conversations, or after the designated bedtime.

Parents' Responsibilities:

1. Guidance and Support:

  • •We will provide guidance on safe and responsible technology use and will be available to answer questions and address concerns.
  • •We will stay informed about the latest technology trends, risks, and tools to help protect our family online.

2. Privacy Respect:

  • •We will respect our teen's privacy while maintaining the right to check devices and online activity to ensure safety.
  • •We will discuss any concerns or findings with our teen in a respectful and constructive manner.

3. Balanced Rules:

  • •We will set fair and reasonable screen time limits and will be open to discussing and adjusting them as needed.
  • •We will encourage and support our teen in finding a healthy balance between screen time and other activities.

4. Role Modeling:

  • •We will model positive technology use by following the same rules we set for our teens, such as limiting screen time and avoiding devices during family time.
  • •We will demonstrate respectful online communication and responsible content sharing.

2. 🔐 Snapchat Privacy & Safety Settings

I agree to:

  • •Keep Ghost Mode ON (Snap Map off).
  • •Set "Who Can Contact Me" to Friends Only.
  • •Set "Who Can View My Story" to Friends Only or Custom.
  • •Turn off Quick Add.
  • •Enable Two-Factor Authentication to secure my account.

3. ⏱️ All Technology Limits & App Usage

I agree to:

  • •Limit use to 30 minutes per day (initially). This may change in the future based on responsibility and trust.

I agree not to use Snapchat during:

  • •Homework
  • •Family meals
  • •Bedtime hours (9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.)
  • •Respect family tech-free times or zones.

4. 🧠 Digital Awareness & Safety

I understand:

  • •Snaps are not truly private and can be saved or screenshotted.
  • •I will never send or request inappropriate or explicit content.
  • •If I see anything disturbing, threatening, or inappropriate, I will tell a parent or trusted adult.
  • •I know how to report or block someone if needed.

5. 👀 Parental Involvement

I agree that:

  • •My parents may periodically review my Technology settings and activity with my knowledge.
  • •We will have regular check-ins about my digital life, not just when something goes wrong.

6. 👫 Social Boundaries

I agree to:

  • •Only add people I know in real life.
  • •Never privately message with adults or strangers.
  • •Ask before joining or creating group chats, especially with people I don't know well.

7. ⚖️ Trust, Consequences & Growth

I understand:

  • •My parents will treat me with respect and fairness.
  • •If I break the rules, I will lose my Technology privileges after 1 strike.

8. ✅ Optional Tools

We agree:

  • •My parents may use screen time controls or monitoring tools, if necessary.
  • •We will revisit this agreement every 3 months (or as needed) to adjust based on trust, maturity, or new concerns.

9. 🗣️ Open Communication

We promise:

  • •To talk openly, honestly, and respectfully about Snapchat and all other Technology and social media.
  • •I can come to my parents without fear if something bad happens online.
